Healthy Soils Workshop

Generally speaking good soil for most plants comprises of high organic matter, broad range of critical nutrients, loose friable structure/texture and a PH between 6 and 7. Ideally soil should be free draining to 20-30cm deep, yet have excellent moisture holding capacity.

When: Friday 17th May 2019 - 9.30am - 12pm

        Includes practical ways to:

  • Making your own seed raising & potting mix – Including where to sourcematerials, fertilisers and PH level adjustment.
  • Suitable soil for container or raised gardens using resources in our region. What these materials are and where to find them including manures, soil mixes and alternatives to raised gardens.
  • How to improve your vegetable garden soil including which manures to use, adding organic matter and improving microbial activity.
  • No dig gardens – Advantages of this type of garden and how to construct your own using easily accessible resources.
  • Dry composting ,green manures and mulching.
  • Includes a free copy of workshop notes and practical demonstrations.
