Indian Ginseng is a hardy perennial herb, bush habit to 1.5m for a sun to part shade position, annual in colder climates. Plant has medicinal properties, fruit used as soap substitute and leaves as an insect repellant. Also known as Ashwagandha or Winter Cherry. Part of the nightshade family or Solanaceae, in Sanskrit Ashwagandha means “smell like a horse” - due to the strong horse sweat like scent. Grown in Asia, India, the Middle East, and parts of Africa.
