    Ice cream bean grows into a small tree to 8 metres, hardy, large pods with sweet edible white pulp. Attractive bronze-green foliage. Fast growing, fruits in 4 years.

    Native to South America, Ice Cream Bean is part of the legume family Fabaceae. Widely grown for food, timber, shade, medicinal purposes and some cultures even use it to create alcoholic beverages. A quick growing plant often used in Permaculture designed gardens as a chop-n-drop plant for extra soil nitrogen, as well a great compost material  -  Leaves can be used as mulch or for animal fodder

    It's common name refers to the sweet and fluffy smooth pulp of the fruit.
