Chia is a hardy annual to 1.5 metres, leaves used in salads, seeds for sprouts. Seeds rich in vitamins and protein, forage plant. Whole plant regarded as survival food. Use organic chia seed for eating or sowing. Chia is well known for its superfood qualities and it is easy to grow to save your own chia for eating.
How to Grow
Chia is easy to grow handling a range of soil conditions and climate types. Sow direct into the garden, cover seed with 3mm of soil and keep moist until germinated in 2-3 weeks. Thin out to the strongest plant spacing approximately 40cm apart. Plants will flower late summer providing a lovely display and nectar for bees.

Uses
Use young leaves fresh in salads. Allow flower heads to dry then harvest seeds and store for use as chia seeds in mueslies, desserts etc.
