Marvelous Monstera

Monstera deliciosa, Fruit Salad Plant, Swiss Cheese Plant...Name a more popular indoor plant, I bet you can't!

Grown well indoors these plants provide a stunning feature and can liven up any room. Grown outdoors in a semi shaded area, they can provide amazing evergreen colour and structure to a garden. Native to Southern Mexico and Panama, they thrive in Hot, Humid, Tropical environments. They also grow well here at Greenpatch, which is in aTemperate - Sub Tropical environment.
Aside from looking great, this incredible plant also produces a delicious edible fruit. It is of utmost importance that the fruit be fully ripe before eating, if unripe it contains Calcium Oxalate crystals which can cause irritation in your mouth and throat.

If growing indoors, be sure to keep your plant out of direct sunlight, as this can cause sensitive leaves to burn, you will also have much softer and lusher green growth. Be sure to check the moisture levels in your pot regularly, as prolonged drying out can cause plants to suffer and edges of leaves to burn. Ensure to wipe the dust of the leaves of your plant, or take it outside and wash them, as dust can inhibit the plants ability to photosynthesize. Water regularly, provide food if your plants look stunted or hungry and you will be on your way to a gorgeous indoor specimen!

If growing outdoors, plant in a semi shade to full shade position. Add compost and fertiliser to the planting area, water your plant in and your Monstera will know what to do from there! Avoid overwatering when young, and protect from frost.

Garlic - Elephant -  Stock will be available 31st March 2023. A very large bulb and cloves. Flavour is milder than other garlic and suitable for stews, roasts, BBQ's which allows all the flavour to be slowly extracted. Grows to a height of 90cm, vigorous grower.
