Perennial native to tropical South America for fertile well drained position. West Indian Arrowroot is the best for using tubers to make arrowroot flour or a source of easily digestible starch. Plant during spring summer in a rich well drained position. Tubers are white and elongated similar in shape to Turmeric. Harvest tubers after 12 months.
