    Bok Choy is a popular annual loose-leaf cabbage, with large green leaves and crunchy white stems. Harvest large leaves over a long period or the whole plant can be taken at once. It is often eaten fresh or added to stir frys.

    It can also be added into pasture for animanls to graze.

     

    How to Grow

    Bok Choy prefers fertile garden soil rich in organic matter but it will also handle a range of soil types providing there is adequate nutrients available. Bok Choy can be sown direct into your garden bed or grown as seedlings in pots then transplanted to the garden when they are 5cm high. They require at least half a days sun year round but they can benefit from some shade protection during the hot summer months. 

    Pests can include Snails, Slugs and bluegreen aphid.

    Uses

    Harvest leaves when young for use in salads or toss into stirfrys. Once plants get to full size they can be pulled up with the stem and leaves used in stirfrys.
