Very hardy, shrubby plant to 2.5m. Green egg shaped fruit, ripening in Autumn with pineapple aroma, yellow flesh eaten fresh or made into jam.
Can be grown as a tree or pruned as a multi-stemmed shrub - being slow growers they are also ideal for large pots or small garden spaces. The bright unique flowers they are also great for salads, cordials or your local birdlife. They are a low maintenance plant, yet still preferring some protection from wind. While technically a 'self pollinator' it's recommended to have two plants for increased cross pollination - hand pollination can also be used to ensure a large yield. Flowers begin in spring and the ripe fruit falls from the tree ready for eating in Autumn.
Tolerates average soils and frost, enjoys consistent moist soil.
