  • Kohlrabi - Azur Star

    Quantity:

(Brassica oleracea) - Certified Organic Seed

Kohlrabi is a delicious purple bulbing vegetable perfect for baking, grated or steamed. Peel outer skin off before eating inner flesh. Bulb is round with a slightly flat appearance - up to 7cm across. Leaves can also be used similar to kale and best eaten when young.

    How to Grow

Kohlrabi is a fast growing annual that requires a full sun position with very fertile soil rich in organic matter. Sow seeds into pots/punnets using a good quality seed raising mixture. Cover seed with 5mm of soil and keep moist until germinated. Transplant seedlings to the garden when they are 5cm high and mulch thickly around the plant. We highly recommend covering all your Brassica's with Vege Netting when they are first transplanted to exclude the white cabbage moth. If the moth does lay it's eggs the best natural solution is the use of Dipel spray. Side dressings of fertiliser can be used if growth is slow.

Sow autumn-spring in pots then transplant to the garden at 5cm high
