    Saba nut, also known as Malabar Chestnut, is a fast growing, highly ornamental tree producing edible nuts. The young leaves and flowers are also edible, use as a vegetable, best eaten cooked. The tree produces large nuts roughly 5cm x 3cm, which are encased by a large green pod. The nuts can be eaten raw, added to dishes fried or roasted. A flavour similar to peanuts when eaten raw, changing to a flavour similar to Macadamia when roasted or cooked. A high protein food.

    Protect from frost until established. Tolerant of long dry periods and drought.
